By now, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is likely used to the teasing and the mocking about his relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift.
The seven-time All-Pro and 14-time Grammy winner are seemingly in the headlines on a daily basis, and Kelce has presumably heard it all since he struck up a romantic relationship over a year ago.
But instead of tabloids or talking heads on sports talk radio/television ribbing Kelce for his high-profile relationship with Swift, recently the 35-year-old was roasted by popular quiz show “Jeopardy!” when he was the answer to a less-than-flattering question that implied he took a backseat in his own relationship.
(Or, rather, in true “Jeopardy!” fashion, he was the question to a less-than-flattering answer.)
“’Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?’ is hosted by this man who’s maybe more famous as a BF than as a 3-time Super Bowl Champ,” the clue read.
Jokes poured in on social media as people shared plenty of laughs at Kelce’s expense, while the show faced some backlash from Swifties who were angry the show demeaned Kelce and Swift’s relationship.
“Jeopardy!” producers likely saw the heat the show was taking and decided to issue a public apology to Kelce, though it was done more in a tongue-in-cheek manner than one of sincerity.
“Sorry to this man,” the official “Jeopardy!” Instagram account posted with a photo of the Kelce clue from the show.
Some fans still weren’t ready to move on from the Kelce mocking, however, as plenty of Mr. Taylor Swift and Jason’s brother jokes flooded the comment section.
Kelce will likely always get taunted about his relationship as long as he and Swift are together, but he had his best game of the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on “Monday Night Football” with Swift in attendance. Kelce caught 14 of 16 targets for 100 yards — all season highs.
