The Dallas Cowboys have been having one of the most disappointing seasons in recent team history in 2024. With a record of 3-6 and one of the toughest schedules down the stretch, it seems like hopes of reaching the postseason are becoming less and less likely. The chaos in Dallas does not end there, though, as their quarterback just got punished by the league.
Dallas Cowboys QB Punished
The NFL has punished quarterback Trey Lance by fining him $22,511 for an unnecessary roughness penalty that was not called in the game. Lance was seen using his helmet on the play where he knocked Philadelphia Eagles safety Reed Blankenship out of bounds.
NFL Punishments
The league has been cracking down even more on fines this season to try and ensure player safety during games. While some fines have been warranted, others have been a little questionable, including this one. Fans did not seem to like this fine that much and are calling the league “soft.”
Even some of the players are questioning the league’s decision to hand out some of these fines for what seem like routine football plays. It does not look like the NFL is planning to slow down these fines anytime soon, and it could result in some new rule changes in the near future.
