Jerry Jones has not been happy with the Dallas Cowboys’ performance so far this season.

The Dallas Cowboys have endured a rocky season, sitting at 3-4 after seven games. Both sides of the ball are struggling: the defense, hampered by injuries, has failed to stop the run under Mike Zimmer‘s strategies, while on offense, Dak Prescott has shouldered the load with little support from a weak running game.
This season has been shocking for the team’s fanbase but nobody is as surprised as owner and general manager Jerry Jones. He boldly predicted that the team would go ‘all-in’ during the off-season but all they managed to do was sign Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to long-term contracts. Jones is now realizing that the team’s path has been “rougher” than what he had anticipated.
During his weekly appearance on 1053 The Fan, Jones admitted the Cowboys’ struggles.
It is hard to predict injuries and their impact on the season but Dallas did not make an effort to sign reliable backup options during the off-season.
Jerry Jones has criticized the Cowboys’ coaching this season
The team’s coaching room is also to blame. Mike McCarthy, Mike Zimmer, and Brian Schottenheimer have failed to get creative with their strategies. The Cowboys are predictable and this was exposed in their matchup against the Detroit Lions. Jerry Jones’ 82nd birthday present turned out to be a harsh reality check.
There was not one thing that either the defense or offense could do as Detroit dismantled them 47-9. Jones has expressed his disappointment in the team’s coaching.
Dallas has been worse than in previous seasons wherein the team was consistent during the regular season. This year, they may not make the playoffs.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan: “I think we’re having a rougher go than I anticipated. … It is rougher, and I did not anticipate the challenges that we’re having with this team.”
Jones said he has a “tough time” getting past their minus-8 turnover ratio, pointing out…

If that is indeed the case then Mike McCarthy can expect to be fired by Jones. This season was his last chance to prove himself, however, considering the tools that the general manager has given him, he is helpless and is attempting to make the most out of it.
The second half of the season is going to be a rockier road for the team as they face the best in the NFL. Given the way the Cowboys have performed so far this season, they can win three games from their next nine matchups, however, if McCarthy has a trick up his sleeve then the outcome is hopefully much better.
