The Dallas Cowboys’ season feels like it is approaching a defining moment. That might be a little heavy-handed for a team sitting at 3-4, but Dallas’ record is a bit misleading.
You would be hard-pressed to find a person who thinks that, as things stand, the Cowboys are a playoff team, and for a 3-4 outfit, that is troubling.
Up next for the Cowboys are the 5-3 Atlanta Falcons, who lead their division and are solid on both sides of the ball. The Cowboys know how important it is to get their season pulling in the right direction, and a win is desperately needed.
Just ask CeeDee Lamb.
“Every game is a must-win,” Lamb said. “But we definitely got to pull this one out. We take that approach every week, but we got to come together, put our plays together, and play as a unit.”
So the urgency is noted by Lamb, and with the trade deadline looming, some players could be fighting for their Cowboys careers.
With an eye toward the “blow-it-up” concept that our own Mike Fisher has been preaching since February, should Dallas lose, and lose badly to the Falcons and drop to 3-5, the team might then become sellers in a bid to get a stronger draft hand to rebuild in 2025.
But despite how poorly the Cowboys have played through seven games, there was a glimmer of hope in the fourth quarter against the San Francisco 49ers. Yes, that was mostly due to the 49ers putting the cue in the rack, but still, Dallas has something positive to hold on to.
