Tuesday night’s matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors was a memorable one for everyone involved. It was the first game back in the Bay Area for Klay Thompson since joining the Mavericks.
Thompson performed admirably, scoring 22 points and connecting on six 3-pointers. However, the Warriors managed to secure a tight 120-117 win.
One of the main reasons that the Warriors were able to walk away victorious was the performance of their superstar. Stephen Curry had a phenomenal game. The four-time champion posted 37 points, nine assists, six rebounds, two blocks, and one steal in the win.
The other member of the original trio, Draymond Green, was asked about Curry’s performance at the post-game press conference. The defensive star forward was candid with his response, as usual.
“I knew he’d come in ready to go,” Green told reporters. “[It was] very evident by that first foul. He just wanted to take the ball from Klay so bad, but when you see him express that type of emotion, everybody else just falls in line.”
Green continued: “I try to lead in that category, but when he’s up, I move to the side, let him do his thing, and [I’ll] be in support. He was absolutely incredible tonight, and I knew he’d be locked in from the gate.”
It will be a long time before these two teams play each other again. The next matchup between the Mavericks and Warriors will be on February 12th, in Dallas. It should not be surprising to see emotions running rampant yet again.
