PITTSBURGH — A week ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers set goals for promising cornerback Cory Trice. Among those goals, Trice had to demonstrate that he could run at least 20 miles per hour and go through a flurry of other tests to test how his hamstring would hold up.
Trice has passed many of those tests over the last week, sources tell PennLive, and the Steelers could look to open his 21-day window this week. Head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that Trice had a chance to work his way back.
“We’ll just kind of let their participation be our guide in terms of whether or not they get back on the train or not, guys like Cory Trice, for example,” Tomlin said.
Despite Trice only being in his second season and having missed his entire rookie year with a torn ACL, the Steelers will allow him to return to the field quickly, sources told PennLive.
Ben Skowronek practiced fully for three straight days last week and was activated for the team’s game against the Washington Commanders. Pittsburgh could look to follow a similar path for Trice this week.
