It’s a new era in Pittsburgh.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, currently 7-2 and fresh off a win against the Washington Commanders, are ushering in a new era of offense.
Quarterback Kenny Pickett started 12 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023. In that span, he totaled six passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown — a mark that new QB Russell Wilson has accomplished in just three games in black and gold. He’s thrown five (3 in Week 10 alone) and added another on the ground.
It’s not just the passing game that is humming, however. It’s the run game, too. Through nine games, the Steelers have posted 20 total touchdowns (11 passing, 9 rushing) — just nine fewer than the total they managed over 17 regular-season games all of last season.
Though there have been some hiccups, it seems their re-imagined offense under new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith has found its groove. Week 10 marked the fifth game of 300+ yards of offense this season and third consecutive under QB Russell Wilson. The Steelers had three total games of 300+ net yards under former OC Matt Canada, without a single game of more than 400+ yards.
The Steelers traded Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles following Wilson’s acquisition, getting back the 98th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft (used to select ILB Payton Wilson) and two 2025 seventh-round picks. One of those seventh-round picks was sent to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for OLB Preston Smith, who managed a sack in Sunday’s debut with the team.
