Christian McCaffrey finally made his long-awaited season debut for the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The two-time All-Pro running back has been recovering from Achilles tendonitis, and it wasn’t until Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that McCaffrey was deemed healthy enough to take the field.
He did not disappoint.
McCaffrey picked up right where he left off from last season, going for 13 carries for 39 yards while also catching six passes for another 68 yards. The three-time Pro Bowler wasn’t able to score a touchdown in his first game back, but there’s no denying that he played a significant role in the Niners’ hard-fought 23-20 win over the Bucs.
McCaffrey’s wife, Olivia Culpo, made the trip to Tampa to support her beau. She shared a photo from inside Raymond James Stadium during the game, along with a two-word message.
“GAME TIME,” she captioned her post.
Culpo, the 2012 Miss Universe winner, has not had a chance to attend games this season, so she made sure to make it count on Sunday. With her during the contest were Claire Kittle, the wife of Niners tight end George Kittle, and Kathleen Messier, who is the fiancée of Christian McCaffrey’s brother, Max McCaffrey.
Culpo and McCaffrey tied the knot in June this year in a lovely wedding ceremony in Rhode Island. The two had been dating since 2019.
As for his football, McCaffrey will be looking to build on his strong season debut when the Niners return to action on Sunday, Nov. 17, against the Seattle Seahawks.
