Former Timberwolf Jimmy Butler reportedly will sit out of his Miami Heat team’s game on Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to injury.
According to Miami Herald reporter Anthony Chiang, Butler won’t play the Wolves because of an ankle injury, which he suffered on Friday night against the Denver Nuggets. In that game, he was limited to just seven minutes.
Butler, of course, played for Minnesota during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons before infamously forcing his way out of town. The 35-year-old is now in his sixth season with the Heat.
He hasn’t suited up for a game in Minnesota since Nov. 24, 2021.
Miami is just 3-5 so far this season and will enter Sunday’s game in Minnesota on a three-game losing streak, despite the efforts of Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo and Terry Rozier.
The Timberwolves, on the other hand, are 6-3 and riding a three-game winning streak thanks to the hot shooting of star Anthony Edwards and the beefed up supporting cast. Minnesota’s young guard is draining threes at a historic rate in quality and quantity to power a juiced-up offense.
Sunday’s game between the Heat and Wolves is set to tip off at 6 p.m. at Target Center.
