Head coach Mike McCarthy has brutally waived Booth on to make room for trade
The franchise waived Booth on Tuesday to make room for receiver Jonathan Mingo from the Carolina Panthers on the 53-man roster.
Booth is now a free agent after his August move saw Nahshon Wright move the other way to the Vikings.
He appeared in three games for the Cowboys this season, playing 38 defensive snaps and 25 special teams snaps.
The 24-year-old registered just six tackles before the 2024 NFL trade deadline window ended on Tuesday.
A second-round pick in 2022, Booth has played 26 NFL games with three starts.
Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips was also released after joining the Cowboys from the New York Giants at the start of August.
The duo leave Dallas having produced no sacks, no pass break ups, no interceptions, no forced fumbles, no fumble recoveries.
At 3-5, the Cowboys only have one more win than the Panthers,
Dallas sent a fourth-round pick to the Panthers in exchange for Mingo, a higher price than some proven veterans.
But fans have been left furious with the trade, claiming that owner Jerry Jones overpaid for Mingo.
“I despise anyone in the comments trying to defend the move,” one fan said.
“Is that really the help they went for?” another added.
