Veteran wide receiver Mike Williams gets the second chance to be a productive contributor in 2024 after being traded from the New York Jets to the Pittsburgh Steelers in advance of the NFL trade deadline.
After struggling to get on the same page with Aaron Rodgers during his time with the Jets this season, Williams vows to double-down on making sure he and Steelers quarterback Russel Wilson hit the ground running with strong chemistry following Tuesday’s trade.
Williams says he has a plan.
“I’m looking forward to getting more reps in off to the side with him,” Williams told reporters. “Just getting that connection down, see the spots he likes, where I like the ball at so we can be on the same page.”
Williams arrives in Pittsburgh with just 12 catches for 166 yards this season, but the Steelers are banking on him making a significantly stronger impact than that in Wilson’s supporting cast opposite George Pickens.
