The Golden State Warriors have become one of the most aggressive move-makers across the landscape of the NBA. With Steph Curry and Draymond Green inching toward the end of their respective careers, the championship window will only be open for so much longer.
Thus far, the Warriors have been unable to make any move of substance, though. They’re currently 7-1 despite striking out on trades to land Paul George and Lauri Markkanen this summer.
For Golden State’s front office, there should be a signal to remain aggressive in the trade market as they’ve clearly got the necessary tools to compete at a high level.
With the club’s aggression this past offseason, expect a similar attempt to make some trade deadline moves come February. not to mention, they were active at the trade deadline a season ago.
Again, Curry and Green only have so much more time to be competitive in the NBA, and, after a 7-1 start to the season, the Warriors would be doing themselves a disservice by not making a substantial trade.
Last season, the team struck out on LeBron James in what would have been a massive move, so keep an eye on Golden State this year at the trade deadline, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
“The Warriors are the biggest candidate in my mind to make a big trade. They tried to trade for LeBron James last trade deadline… This is a team that’s got an itchy trigger finger trying to make a big deal,” Windhorst said.
Should the Warriors pair a star alongside Curry and the rest of the squad’s core, they could legitimately be a championship-contending team.
Keep an eye on them in a very difficult Western Conference as sustained success from them could certainly impact the conference in a big way.
