Cowboys Dak Prescott Horrible Injury Update: Hamstring Is ‘Torn Off The Bone’..

“Dak Prescott diagnosis is a partial avulsion of his hamstring tendon which is partially torn off the bone. I’m told it typically takes more than four-week recovery.” – Jane Slater, NFL Network

FRISCO – Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to miss multiple games due to a hamstring injury, and amid one idiotic national report that called him a “quitter” while questioning the severity of the injury, we now have more information about just why a four-week stint on IR – and maybe even a longer absence – is an appropriate option.

There are some immediate and some long-term decisions the club is making with the Eagles now heavy road favorites when they visit AT&T Stadium in Week 10.

Prescott sustained the injury during Dallas’ 27-21 Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, and an MRI revealed the damage was more severe than initially believed.

What is that diagnosis now? Via Jane Slater of NFL Network: “Sources tell me the initial diagnosis is a partial avulsion of his hamstring tendon, which is partially torn off the bone. I’m told it typically takes more than a four-week recovery. In some cases, they let it scar over, repair and then strengthen.

“With that being said, Prescott is seeking other opinions which is why there is currently a reluctance to place him on IR or make any determinations about a timeline for return.”

The Cowboys are obviously and understandably considering placing their starting quarterback on injured reserve, which would put him in rehab mothballs for at least four games. Prescott, as we’ve previously reported, is currently seeking a second medical opinion.

This issue means the Eagles will likely face Cooper Rush under center for Dallas (with Trey Lance maybe also involved), significantly increasing Philadelphia’s chances of ending their five-year winless streak in Dallas.

Rush, who has been the Cowboys’ primary backup this season, struggled in previous starts, while Lance remains unproven in the Cowboys’ system.

Both QBs are the final years of their existing contracts in Dallas.

The timing couldn’t be more awful for Dallas. The Cowboys are now 3-5 after having lost three consecutive games … and frankly, they and their $60 million per year QB Prescott have been in lockstep in terms of overall performance.

Dak has committed nine turnovers in eight starts.

Philadelphia hasn’t won at Dallas since 2017, but with Prescott unavailable that – and maybe a lot of other things – are about to change here inside The Star. … in large part due to a horrible diagnosis for the team leader.
