FRISCO – The Dallas Cowboys are putting last week’s 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons behind them, led by wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is planning on pushing forward even with a shoulder injury.
With Dak Prescott injuring his hamstring and leaving that game in the third quarter (there are now tentative plans to move the QB to IR), Lamb’s injury leaves 3-5 Dallas thin and banged up at the skill positions as they await this Sunday’s visit from the 6-2 Philadelphia Eagles.
The health of Lamb is a top priority, and with the season hanging by the thinnest of threads, the Cowboys can ill afford to have him miss any games. The MRI on his shoulder on Monday showed an AC joint sprain … a painful thing to be sure. But nevertheless, Lamb made an immediate prediction about his coming fate.
“I’ll be out there,” Lamb said defiantly about Dallas’ Week 10 game against the Eagles. “I’ll be playing.”
And indeed, now on Wednesday here inside The Star, the plan is for Lamb to take the field on a limited basis, with a “pitch count” of sorts during practice. (Micah Parsons, out for a month with a high ankle sprain, is trying to ramp up today in similar fashion.)
Lamb finished his day in Atlanta with eight catches, grimacing in pain on several of them, for 47 yards. He wasn’t at his most productive after a 146-yard, two-touchdown game against the San Francisco 49ers last week.
But he isn’t using his injury as an excuse.
“It hurts, no need to shortchange it,” Lamb said. “But that’s no excuse for my performance. I could have played better overall, and I’ll be better. I’m not going to put so much emphasis on it as far as me catching the ball because overall, that’s my job, but yeah, it definitely hurt.”
And today here at The Star at practice? CeeDee Lamb is simply trying to do “his job” again.
