Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones expressed hope amid displeasure as the Cowboys’ record sank lower with every week. Atlanta Falcons defeated the Cowboys 27-21 at home, marking the latter’s third straight loss in the season.
The Cowboys are one of the most talked-about teams this season. They started with a very unproductive off-season with limited free-agent signings and delays. The dance with the media started as they found themselves with home losses one after the other.
The upcoming weeks signaled an angry Jones who threatened to fire a reporter and even veteran Troy Aikman called the team ‘lazy’. The poor record added to the administrative setbacks has not been well received by fans.
Jones routinely speaks with the media outside the team’s locker room at AT&T Stadium. However, on the road, Jones usually doesn’t address reporters after the game regardless of the result. Still, Jones came out yesterday and spoke with the reporters to instill confidence that they are going to come back from this.
I really regret it to be having the season we’re having for our fans. I have seen too many times, though, when this thing gets to look dark, I’ve seen the positives jump up there and go from there. … That room is full of guys that can get it done. I believe in them, coaches and all.

In his media availability, Jones also delved into the message he gave to the players post the game. Jones admitted that they needed to play better but maintained that he had hope for the team.
I spoke to the team about having my butt kicked a few times, been around men who have had their butt kicked. I’ve seen them come back and hold the trophy up. There (are) times for all things. We all know we’ve got to play better than we played tonight, or we’re not going anywhere.

The Cowboys now sit at 3-5 with upcoming matchups against the Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, and Washington Commanders over the next three weeks. They’re also facing the possibility of being without starting quarterback Dak Prescott. Additionally, all of their top four defensive ends are still sidelined. To make things harder, their best cornerback has had a setback in his recovery.
Despite the rocky days ahead, Jones noted that he’s still “all-in” and echoed the core of his entire interview. It is a given Jones has seen some good seasons and good comebacks, but the circumstances look quite dire from fans’ view.

Jerry Jones has shifted according to the situation. The 82-year-old earlier maintained that they are a good team with good personnel, indicating no changes or additions ahead of the trade deadline. However, it has gradually changed.
Last Friday, on 105.3 The Fan, Jones sounded more open to upgrades. After Sunday’s game, he hinted strongly at future possibilities of bringing in reinforcements. He mentioned that he would undertake any measure necessary to help the team win.
