Monday night was a good one for the Golden State Warriors on many levels. For starters, they improved to 6-1 on the season after a comfortable 125-112 win over the Washington Wizards.
The Warriors jumped out to an early 29-20 lead after the first quarter, and maintained control of the game from there, cruising to a victory. Outside of a simple notch in the win column, there was a much bigger reason to be excited about Monday’s game for the team and its fans.
After missing a few games due to an ankle injury, Warriors superstar Stephen Curry returned to the lineup for his first game. It was a solid outing for him in this one.
Curry finished the game with 24 points and six assists in just 24 minutes on the court. When asked about his superstar in the post-game press conference, head coach Steve Kerr seemed pleased with how Curry is progressing in his recovery.
“Steph was great,” Kerr told reporters. “He just looked like he was moving really well and looked strong. [He] came out and played a great game in his 24 minutes.”
Kerr added: “We had a minutes restriction on him. …We talked to him earlier about starting the game, but then not starting the third quarter so that he could play the last last six minutes of each the third and the fourth quarter.”
The Warriors will be back on the court on Wednesday night, matching up against the defending champions, the Boston Celtics.
