Jordan Poole hit a three-pointer over Draymond Green on Monday when the Washington Wizards hosted the Golden State Warriors. Poole and Green have had a history dating back to their time together with the Warriors. During Poole’s tenure with Golden State, he didn’t necessarily get along with Green.
It appears that Poole hasn’t forgotten what Green did to him in the past. During one of the plays in their matchup on Monday, the Wizards guard knocked down a long-distance bomb over his former Warriors teammate. After hitting the shot, Poole celebrated while pointing at Green.
In the following possession, as the clock was about to expire in the second quarter, Green found himself posting up against Poole. The Warriors veteran then dished a layup to Steph Curry in the corner, who hit a buzzer-beater to end the first half. Green then barked back at Poole by pointing at him after the three-point shot.
During one of their practices in 2022, Green got into an altercation with Poole. Rumors suggested at the time that the two players got on each other’s nerves when they discussed contract extensions. This led to the veteran punching his junior.
Green apologized for his actions and admitted his mistake. However, his relationship with Jordan Poole was forever stained.
Wizards vs Warriors recap: Jordan Poole’s 24 points wasn’t enough to stop Steph Curry
Monday night’s matchup between the Warriors and Wizards marked the return of Steph Curry. The Warriors star was out for three consecutive games due to an ankle injury. Curry immediately contributed to his team on his return.
In his comeback game, Steph had 24 points, six assists and three rebounds. His 15-point third-quarter performance helped the Warriors to a 125-112 victory on the road.
Jordan Poole had a similar performance to Curry’s. He had 24 points, four blocks, three steals and three assists. Despite his all-around performance, it wasn’t enough to fend off Golden State. Washington now has a 2-4 record and is on a two-game losing streak.
Their next game is on Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies. Hopefully, they could use their time off to regroup, restrategize and find a way to get back in the win column.
