Talk about a tough loss for the Los Angeles Lakers. Against the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles was just unable to get their footing early. They went down by as much as 20 points, eventually ending up losing 115-103.
Things looked even worse for the Lakers when Anthony Davis landed awkwardly on his ankle during the loss. Davis was able to play through the injury but given his history… fans were a bit concerned about his ability to play.
Davis made his feelings known about potentially missing time after the game. A reporter was asking Lakers star LeBron James what the team will do should Davis miss time. AD could be heard in the background saying, “He’s not out,” per Dave McMenamin.
Davis also detailed his injury earlier, saying that it was a recurring issue that he’s been dealing with since this summer and that he’ll talk to his trainers to figure out what’s going on.
“I don’t know,” Davis said, per McMenamin. “I will have to talk to my trainers to see what exactly is going on. I’ve been managing it since this summer, honestly. Just everything to work and be on the floor, which kinds of his landed directly on the spot that’s been killing me. So, we’ll figure it out.”
After starting the season at 3-0, the Lakers have dropped three of their four road games to fall to 4-3. Despite an excellent performance from Davis (39 points, nine rebounds, and four assists), they were unable to overcome the Pistons’ onslaught.
The Lakers are now heading to Memphis to finish their first road trip of the season. It remains to be seen whether Davis will be available for that game, but based on his response, it seems like he’s pushing to play in that game.
