Following a heartbreaking loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, the 2-6 Miami Dolphins face a Tuesday 4:00 pm est NFL trade deadline. In a season that has seen injury and inconsistency, Miami must decide on being buyers, sellers, or simply just hold.
On Monday morning in a tweet on X.com, Josh Moser of Athlon Sports and WSVN-TV asked NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus his expectations for the Dolphins heading into the deadline.
Rosenhaus told Moser, “Chris Grier and the Dolphins have been very active in making phone calls at least over the last three weeks.”
He added that there have been aggressive efforts for the Dolphins to “get better” and while not able to make a deal at this moment, it is “not for a lack of trying.”
Rosenhaus went on to say definitively that he does not expect the Dolphins to give up on the season. He added, “I don’t expect them to trade away any of their top players, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they acquired a player or two.”
An agent to several Dolphins, Rosenhaus said, “They are really determined to play good football and, you know, do everything they can to turn this season around.”
Grier and the Dolphins have a solid 2025 NFL Draft pile of 10 picks. That includes three compensatory selections which should translate into a pair in the third round and one in the seventh.
Whether it is prudent to trade picks as opposed to add more draft assets at 2-6 is up for debate. However the rest of the 2024 season for the Miami Dolphins is not a wash according to Rosenhaus stating, “They have not given up by any stretch of the imagination.”
The Dolphins will next face the 4-4 Los Angeles Rams on the road on Monday Night Football.
