BREAKING: Injured Cowboys’ Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb Both Scheduled for MRIs..

Prescott did not play in the fourth quarter after injuring his right hamstring at Atlanta, while Lamb fought back to return to the Cowboys’ losing effort.

FRISCO – Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb gets credit for continuing to try to play with an injury on Sunday in Atlanta that will require an MRI on back home on Monday in Frisco.

The All-Pro receiver injured his right shoulder on Monday, and there are indications that Lamb is dealing with an AC joint issue in that shoulder.

The Dallas season continues to nosedive after this “bleak” 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes Benz Stadium in which some will argue that the Cowboys deserve credit for fighting through adversity to make close a game that really wasn’t. Lamb is in that get-credit group after he was injured on a first-half catch when Falcons safety Jessie Bates jammed Lamb’s right shoulder into the turf.

Lamb took a few more hits on the shoulder, including on a 2-point conversion with 1:28 remaining. … and at one point the $34 million per year receiver was writhing in pain after the final hit on the shoulder.

What took Dallas down here? Injuries are a part of this; Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury and was forced out of the game in the fourth quarter, and owner Jerry Jones said his immediate future is “concerning.”

Prescott did not play in the fourth quarter after injuring his right hamstring on a scramble in the third quarter. He will undergo an MRI on Monday as well.

As for Lamb? Lamb, who had eight catches for 47 yards and had two runs for 15 yards here, said that he plans to play in next week’s game against the Eagles. Jones after the loss to the Falcons seemed to concur, expressing hope that Lamb can play through the injury as he did Sunday.

In the end, the toughness is admirable. But the Cowboys’ frequent inability to line up properly (literally) is maddening to Cowboys Nation. For this team, now sinking to 3-5 on the year, no amount of grit is going to overcome the same mental mistakes that have plagued Dallas all season, here with nine penalties for 55 yards telling just part of the tale of a team that can’t overcome sloppiness with toughness.
