The Golden State Warriors nearly blew a gift-wrapped victory over the Houston Rockets on Saturday. After jumping out to a massive 71-43 lead at halftime, this game went into overtime.
That was due to a fantastic second half from the Rockets. Houston flipped the script, outscoring the Warriors 76-48 to force the extra frame.
The Warriors managed to weather the storm in overtime, leaving the Toyota Center with a 127-121 victory.
The Warriors improved to 3-0 since losing their superstar, Stephen Curry, to injury. That is a feat that surely would not be possible without the efforts of sharpshooter Buddy Hield.
Hield had another strong game, scoring a team-high 27 points in the win. When asked about the value of Hield at the post-game press conference, star forward Draymond Green had a lot of positive things to say.
“Number one, he is going to go firing shots, which we love,” Green told reports. “He’s not backing down from the moment, and he hasn’t seen a shot he don’t love.”
Green added: “Even more so than that, just the demeanor that he brings …every single day. …Everybody feeds off that energy. …His shooting, with losing Steph, it’s even more important. He’s been right there for us each time we need him.”
In the three games without Curry in the lineup, Hield has averaged 25.3 points per game while shooting 51.0 percent from the field and 51.5 percent from beyond the arc.
