One New York Yankees heckler on Tuesday chose the most inappropriate time to talk trash at Freddie Freeman.
The FOX broadcast held a moment of silence before Game 4 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y., in honor of the “Stand Up To Cancer” charity foundation. Every player, fan, and broadcaster was encouraged to write down the name of someone dear to them who had been affected by cancer.
The camera panned slowly across the diamond to honor the names written down by each of the players on their respective placards. One fan decided to break the silence with a three-word message directed at Freeman.
“You suck, Freeman!” the fan was heard saying.
It’s bad enough that the fan could not wait until after the moment of silence to let his opinion be known. It’s even worse knowing that Freeman has openly shared that his mother had died of melanoma, a form of skin cancer, when he was just 10 years old.
Several fans on X felt that the Yankees heckler went too far.
Freeman may have heard the Yankees fan because he broke a World Series record in his very first at-bat of the night. However, it wasn’t enough to end the series as the Yankees stormed out to an 11-4 win to force a Game 5.
