The AFCās streak of wide receiver trades kept rolling on Tuesday as theĀ Baltimore RavensĀ picked up Diontae Johnson from theĀ Carolina Panthers.
Baltimoreās move is the latest in a series of AFC trades for star receivers. In recent weeks, theĀ New York JetsĀ added Davante Adams, theĀ Buffalo BillsĀ brought in Amari Cooper, and theĀ Kansas City ChiefsĀ landed DeAndre Hopkins.
Along with Johnson, theĀ Panthers and Ravens agreedĀ to a 2025 pick swap, with Carolina receiving a fifth-round pick and Baltimore getting a sixth-rounder.
Johnson was in his apartment when he got the news, and a video shared by his brand, āSlow Motion Better Than No Motion,ā showed the moment he appeared to speak with the Ravens for the first time.
He was on the phone pacing around the apartment when he got the call.
“Yessir, nah imma show you,” Johnson responded.
Johnson was in his first season with the Panthers after being traded from theĀ Pittsburgh SteelersĀ this past offseason. Now, heās heading back to the AFC North, where he spent the first five years of hisĀ NFLĀ career.
So far in the 2024 season, the former third-round pick out of Toledo has accumulatedĀ 30 receptions for 357 yards and three touchdownsĀ in just seven games.
The Ravens will face theĀ Denver BroncosĀ on Sunday in what could be Johnson’s first game in the purple and black. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
