A popular comedian is getting ripped for his “classless” Travis Kelce joke at a rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday evening.
Tony Hinchcliffe, a 40-year-old comedian and the host of the “Kill Tony” podcast, spoke at a rally for Donald Trump at Madison Square Garden on Sunday evening. Hinchcliffe made several off-color jokes, including one about Kelce. The comedian, who appeared on Tom Brady’s Netflix roast earlier this year, joked that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end could be the next O.J Simpson.
“I don’t know about you guys, but I think Travis Kelce might be the next OJ Simpson,” Hinchcliffe said.
Simpson, who died at 76 earlier this year, was infamously accused of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, in the 1990s. The 11-year NFL veteran is one of the best running backs in NFL history, winning four rushing titles and making the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But he’s obviously much more well known for the accusations against him.
Kelce, who is dating iconic music star Taylor Swift, has a lot of people coming to his defense following Hinchcliffe’s off-color joke.
“This is too far. I don’t like Travis or his politics, but WAY TOO far,” one fan wrote.
“Dude come on, you went way too far,” one fan added.
“This guys such a clown,” one fan added.
“This is desperate maga doing what they do best. Insult others because they know they’re going to lose,” one fan added.
Jokes can be controversial, but we’re not even really sure what the joke is. That Travis Kelce is going to murder Taylor Swift because they are left leaning? That’s what we’re doing now?
If that’s the best you’ve got as a comedian, maybe you should consider something else as a career.
We wouldn’t blame Kelce, who was busy leading the Chiefs to a 27-20 win over the Raiders on Sunday, if he claps back at Hinchcliffe in a major way at some point. But that would probably just give Hinchcliffe what he’s seeking – attention – so maybe it’s best to just leave it alone if you’re Kelce.
