The Miami Heat have got things back on track. After losing the season opener vs Orlando Magic in disappointing fashion, they have gotten back-to-back wins. The first came against the Charlotte Hornets, with Jimmy Butler shining on that night.
The second one has come against the Detroit Pistons, who are yet to pick up a win this season so far. The Heat won 106-98 with positive contributions coming from Butler, Tyler Herro, Terry Rozier and Bam Adebayo. Jaime Jaquez Jr was one rebound away from getting a double-double off the bench.
There is one player whose absence the Heat fans are not impressed by though. It is their rookie Kel’el Ware.
After impressive displays in the Summer League and the preseason, fans had hoped that Ware would have a meaningful rotational role for the Heat. He brings a lot of attributes to the table that Erik Spoelstra’s side have lacked for a long time.
But Ware only got 6 minutes in the season opener against the Magic and has not played in the two games that have followed. That has led to Heat fans raising questions on X about the rookie’s situation:
Of course, it is still important to remember that these are still early days for Ware in the league. It would not be the worst idea in the world to ease him into things. The coaches are seeing things in practice that fans simply do not have access to.
That being said, the best way to help a rookie develop is to give him some minutes with the established pros in the NBA.
Spoelstra will know that very well, having been one of the best coaches in the league for years. Hopefully, he has a plan to get the best out of Ware, as he has done with so many others throughout his coaching career.
