The Ravens have brought back defensive tackle Josh Tupou to the practice squad.
The 30-year-old Tupou was signed by the Ravens in May but was released in August as part of the team’s final roster cuts.
Tupou played in 65 games over six seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and has 86 career tackles, six tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, and two sacks. Last season, he played in 14 games with 29 tackles, making one start as part of Cincinnati’s defensive line rotation.
Baltimore’s defensive line has been hit by injuries. Defensive end Brent Urban (concussion) and defensive tackle Michael Pierce (calf) departed in the first half of Sunday’s 29-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns and did not return. Meanwhile, defensive tackle Travis Jones (ankle) played only 15 snaps after being limited in practice last week.
With the Ravens shorthanded up front against Cleveland, defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike played a career-high 86% of the defensive snaps while Broderick Washington played a season-high 61%.
