Huge news for the Los Angeles Lakers rookie.
Los Angeles LakersĀ rookie Dalton Knecht is already making waves around theĀ NBAĀ world as an elite up-and-coming talent from the 2024 NBA Draft.
Knecht, a former college basketball superstar for theĀ Tennessee Volunteers, joined the NBA ranks as the Lakers’ No. 17 overall pick. Now, he’s starting to reap the benefits of playing in one of the league’s biggest markets.
On Friday night, Jordan Brand announced Knecht as one of four NBA rookies to sign with the company as brand ambassadors.
Knecht joins Jared McCain of theĀ Philadelphia 76ers, Stephon Castle ofĀ San Antonio SpursĀ and Ja’Kobe Walter of theĀ Toronto Raptors.
Knecht confirmed the news with a message on his social media before the Lakers’ Friday night matchup against theĀ Phoenix Suns.
“#JordanAthlete,” Knecht wrote on X.
Knecht took the court for 17 minutes in the Lakers’ season-opening win over theĀ Minnesota Timberwolves, recording five points, two assists and one rebound. He introduced himself to the league with a stellar performance in a preseason matchup against the Suns, dropping 35 points on eight three-point makes.
First-year head coach JJ Redick said he plans to utilize Knecht in the Lakers’ rotation moving forward.
āHeās in the rotation,” Redick said. “… I though his debut was really good. He can shoot. He can score. Heās pretty dynamic as an offensive player.ā
