Huge news for the Los Angeles Lakers rookie.
Los Angeles Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht is already making waves around the NBA world as an elite up-and-coming talent from the 2024 NBA Draft.
Knecht, a former college basketball superstar for the Tennessee Volunteers, joined the NBA ranks as the Lakers’ No. 17 overall pick. Now, he’s starting to reap the benefits of playing in one of the league’s biggest markets.
On Friday night, Jordan Brand announced Knecht as one of four NBA rookies to sign with the company as brand ambassadors.
Knecht joins Jared McCain of the Philadelphia 76ers, Stephon Castle of San Antonio Spurs and Ja’Kobe Walter of the Toronto Raptors.
Knecht confirmed the news with a message on his social media before the Lakers’ Friday night matchup against the Phoenix Suns.
“#JordanAthlete,” Knecht wrote on X.
Knecht took the court for 17 minutes in the Lakers’ season-opening win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, recording five points, two assists and one rebound. He introduced himself to the league with a stellar performance in a preseason matchup against the Suns, dropping 35 points on eight three-point makes.
First-year head coach JJ Redick said he plans to utilize Knecht in the Lakers’ rotation moving forward.
“He’s in the rotation,” Redick said. “… I though his debut was really good. He can shoot. He can score. He’s pretty dynamic as an offensive player.”
