𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Dolphins Eyeing Browns Star for Hometown Reunion

As the NFL trade deadline buzz kicks into high gear, the Miami Dolphins are at a crossroads. While they’re not expected to put any of their key players on the trade block, the idea of reinforcing their roster could tempt them to make some strategic moves.

Enter the Cleveland Browns, a team facing a challenging season with just one win and a slew of changes after losing their starting quarterback and having already shipped off Amari Cooper. Cooper, a one-time trade gem from Dallas in 2022, rewarded Cleveland with consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, but it seems the Browns are ready to dismantle and rebuild, leaving the door open for potential trades.

Rumors swirl about the availability of Myles Garrett, the Browns’ formidable pass-rusher. Yet, while snatching Garrett would be a coup for the Dolphins, the hefty price tag might push Miami to set their sights on a more feasible target: David Njoku, the Browns’ tight end.

Why Njoku, you ask? Miami’s offense could benefit from a dynamic tight end reminiscent of George Kittle’s prowess.

Jonnu Smith has been performing admirably in his role, but adding Njoku to the mix could create a formidable duo, making Miami’s offensive setup more versatile and threatening. Furthermore, Njoku would be returning to familiar territory in Miami, the city he called home during his college years with the Hurricanes.

To accommodate Njoku, the Dolphins could make some roster adjustments. Julian Hill, for instance, might be expendable, and Tanner Conner, who hasn’t been fully utilized, could be moved. Durham Smythe’s role has notably diminished from being on the field for over 70% of offensive snaps last year to just 35% this season, making him another candidate for release or trade.

Bringing Njoku into the fold would provide head coach Mike McDaniel with exciting offensive options, potentially reigniting Tyreek Hill’s dominance on the field. Of course, nabbing Myles Garrett would be a win too, but for now, David Njoku might be the key piece Miami needs before the trade deadline closes.
