Tua Tagovailoa is planning a return to the football field.
The Miami Dolphins quarterback reportedly will start practicing on Wednesday, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini. The team will open the 21-day practice window for Tagovailoa and he could start when the Dolphins face the Arizona Cardinals in a Week 8 game on October 27.
Tagovailoa suffered his third concussion in two years in the Dolphins’ 31-12 Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The latest concussion renewed calls for Tagovailoa to retire to protect his health. He placed on injured reserve and missed the next three games and he is ineligible to play when the Dolphins face the Indianapolis Colts in a Week 7 game on Sunday.
During that time, Tagovailoa reportedly visited with multiple concussion specialists and neurosurgeons, and reportedly decided to continue his NFL career.
The Dolphins have struggled without Tagovailoa, posting a 1-3 record with backup Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley guiding the offense. The Dolphins have averaged just 10 points per game since Week 2.
