Jerry Jones is the Dallas Cowboys’ Number 1 problem according to many of the team’s former players. There are many many previous players for the team have now come out and shared just how problematic Jones is for the team and winning.
The team is off to an awful start this year and is lucky to be 3-3, but that is just going to get worse. If you ask any of the former players, the main cause for these issues starts at the very top with their owner.
The Dallas Cowboys Are In Big Trouble
In a new feature story for ESPN, writer Kalyn Kahler revealed many issues that former Cowboys players have had with the team and why they are very happy to be in a new situation and away from the tyrant owner Jones.
One of the main issues former players had was with Jones allowing fans to come do tours in the facility and see the players up close. This can be a major distraction as the players are just coming to get work done or play a game.
There are some crazy quotes from former players in here:
“We have 24/7 access to the facility, and it should be a place of solitude,” said a recent former player anonymously. “I come in for extra work at night, to use the hot and cold tub, and there’s fans walking through, poking out at you.”
The same former player called the tours “an added distraction.” Jones, however, said he has never heard a complaint about them from a player, coach or staff member.
“Not one time,” he says, “but the most important thing is it wouldn’t make any difference. Period. Because overall, they’re swimming against the stream.”
This is a pretty damning indictment of the tours of the Dallas Cowboys team facility with quotes from players who played for the team recently.

Per The Spun, so many of the former Cowboys players shared the same messaging:
Tony Pollard told Kahler he’s in “a better place mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, just all around” after leaving Dallas to join the Tennessee Titans this season. The Pro Bowl running back said things are “more about football” at his new home.
Cornerback Kelvin Joseph shared a similar sentiment when claiming the focus is on “other stuff” beyond winning championships in Dallas.
Meanwhile, Washington Commanders defensive linemen Dorance Armstrong and Dante Fowler Jr. both sound happy to escape the situation in Dallas.
“I’m smiling … when I walk in the building here, I just know, like, I just have work,” Armstrong said.
“You got real facilities here,” Fowler said. “You might not see tourists coming around, but it keeps the main thing the main thing.”
Former Cowboys safety Jayron Kearse co-signed tight end Dalton Schultz comparing the tours to a zoo earlier this year. He doesn’t think that environment helps the team reach its Super Bowl goals.
“We get all the top-of-the-line things throughout the day, the hot tub and the training room,” Kearse said of the Cowboys facility. “But it’s just a whole bunch of other things that come along with it. It’s all about the brand, that star, which I think supersedes trying to win at the highest level.”
Micah Parsons recently pushed back on these reports saying:
“Sometimes you gotta call bull s*** when you see it! This ain’t it,” Parsons wrote.
He followed that comment up by taking a jab at the Cowboys’ former players saying:
“Some people just ain’t meant for the lights and that’s okay,” Parsons said.
While Micah may have a point, the Cowboys organizationally are not it. They are going to be terrible this season, and they have zero to show for all their talent over the last half decade and beyond. This team has not played in a deep playoff game in decades and that does not look like it’s going to change. The one constant has been their owner Jones and that seems to be their biggest issue when it comes to winning.
