DeAndre Hopkins made clear his admiration for Patrick Mahomes long before they became teammates in Kansas City.
The Chiefs are trading for the Tennessee Titans star in a huge move for the Super Bowl champions.
Andy Reid has needed reinforcements in the receiver room ever since Rashee Rice suffered a knee injury in week four.
Following the news of Hopkins’ move to Kansas City, fans dug out an old tweet in which the receiver heaped praise on his new quarterback.
‘Patrick Mahomes is different,’ Hopkins tweeted back on February 13, 2023, a day after the quarterback led the Chiefs to Super Bowl glory.

‘Patrick Mahomes is different,’ Hopkins tweeted after the quarterback won the Super Bowl
Mahomes was named MVP after passing for 182 yards and three touchdowns in the victory over the Eagles. Earlier this year, he and the Chiefs went back to back by beating the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.
Now, the Chiefs have added Hopkins to their roster as they chase an historic three-peat.
Kansas City is 6-0 for the 2024 season but Reid has seen Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown suffer a shoulder problem, while JuJu Smith-Schuster hurt his hamstring in last week’s win over the 49ers.
Hopkins is in the final year of the $26million, two-year contract contract he signed with Tennessee in the summer of 2023.
The Titans are receiving a fifth-round draft pick from the Chiefs that could become a fourth-rounder if certain conditions are met. The Chiefs take on the 2-5 Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in an AFC West showdown.
