AUDIO: Jerry Jones Unleashes Wild Claim That Derrick Henry Would Have Been A Bust If He Signed With The Cowboys This Offseason

It does not matter what Derrick Henry is doing right now with the Baltimore Ravens; owner Jerry Jones is going to stick with his decision not to pay him in the offseason.

Owner, President, and General Manager Jerry Jones joined the 105.3 The Fan to share his thoughts on the Cowboys visiting the San Francisco 49ers after their bye week.

In the midst of his conversation with the same radio hosts that he threatened to have removed from their jobs just a week ago, Jones mentioned running back Derrick Henry, whom the Cowboys were rumored to be interested in signing during the offseason.

Henry, a three-time All-Pro, currently leads the league with 873 rushing yards as he helped his Baltimore Ravens squad secure their fifth consecutive win on Monday night, 41-31, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he rushed for 169 yards.

That game marked his fourth 100-yard rushing performance of the season and his third performance with over 150 rushing yards.

The Dallas Cowboys are struggling badly in the running game, and Jerry Jones had a chance to fix it.

Instead of recognizing his mistake, Jones dismissed the speculation, stating that Henry’s style of play wouldn’t have been a good fit for Dallas’ offense.

He also stated that his high salary demands would have made managing the team’s cap difficult.

“I don’t know if he’d be having a career year in our situation,” Jones said. “We don’t run that type of offense at all. Derrick Henry didn’t fit (because of) managing the (salary) cap.”

Derrick Henry reportedly expressed interest in joining the Cowboys this past offseason, but he made it clear that the Team never reached out to him.

Even if the Dallas Cowboys did not have the cap space, there is no world where you would not reach out to one of the best running backs in the league.

The Cowboys are now facing the consequences of missing out on a player who could have significantly improved their offense.

As of right now, the Cowboys currently rank last in the league in rushing yards, averaging just 77.2 yards per game after seven weeks.

Jerry Jones Simply Doesn’t Get It

Jerry Jones wants his Dallas Cowboys to be great, but he consistently makes the wrong moves to see it come to pass.

The team has been successful in the regular season over the past few years, but it usually stops there as it falters in the playoffs.

Jerry Jones and the front office could make a move here and there to fix it, but they consistently miss the opportunity, and the team is suffering as a result.
