Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi is currently a doubt for Sunday’s trip to Real Sociedad in La Liga after needing 10 stitches in a facial injury suffered in the Champions League.

Cubarsi was forced off after being kicked in the face in Belgrade and was subsequently put back together by the team’s medical staff.

Diario AS say that the teenager is eager to play against La Real but the club are being cautious and aren’t yet sure if he can feature.

Barca are concerned there’s a risk the would could open up again and so will wait and see how he heals in the coming days before making a final decision.

Cubarsi won’t play with a mask if he is passed fit. The report says it’s “not advisable” to wear such protection with this particular injury but he may need some kind of dressing.

If Cubarsi does miss out then Hansi Flick could bring in Sergi Domínguez or switch Jules Kounde to center-back and play Hector Fort on the right.
