Coach Deschamps has decided to remove Kylian Mbappe from the France squad, ahead of the Nations League matches in mid-November.
The French captain missed last month’s international break due to injury. However, coach Deschamps revealed that his decision this time had nothing to do with Mbappe’s fitness.
The 25-year-old striker is having difficulty settling in Madrid, after his free transfer in the summer.
Mbappe has scored 8 goals in all competitions for the Royal team. However, he has been almost absent from big matches, losing 0-4 to Barca or the recent defeat to AC Milan.
Deschamps has spoken to and encouraged Mbappe. He himself still longs to be in the squad for the upcoming matches against Israel and Italy.
The Frenchman said: “I discussed it with him. It was a decision I made just for this series.
The coach is responsible for making decisions. I don’t want to, but I think it’s better for Mbappe.”
Mbappe was in trouble last month when a Swedish newspaper published an article about a investigation. The French striker immediately denied it and responded by suing those who claimed it was a slander.
He is expected to play when Real Madrid host Osasuna this weekend. The Royals will face Leganes after the international break, before flying to England to face Liverpool in the Champions League.
