Inter Miami have been strongly rumored with a move for Neymar, with the soccer superstar potentially working on a move to MLS.
The Brazil international recently purchased a $26m property in Florida just days after reports emerged that Inter Miami had approached to sign Neymar next year, who is due to become a free-agent next summer.
With Neymar having a dismal time in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal having just returned from a year-long injury, a move to America to play alongside former FC Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez could be a dream scenario for the winger.
Yet Inter Miami have now been warned about the risks in signing Neymar.
Inter Miami told Neymar could be ‘a disaster’ due to injury problems
Speaking on Futbol Americas, pundit Sebastian Salazar noted how Inter Miami would be taking a risk signing Neymar due to the attacker’s recent injury problems, even with the Brazilian bringing a lot of attention to the Chase Stadium side.
Salazar said: “From an Inter Miami perspective, when you start doing the calculations on is this a guy you bring, he’s such a big name and marketing is such a priority in MLS that maybe you can overlook this [Neymar’s injury record] anyway.
“But look what Al-Hilal put into this project. $80m to $100m in salary, a jet, a house, this and that, and it’s been a disaster for them. He’s hardly played, and if you’re Inter Miami, you want to avoid a disaster.
“It’s a risk, but if he can find fitness and play like he did before and reunite him with Suarez and Messi, you have an incredible marketing tool and maybe something that looks good on the field as well.”
Neymar’s injury record should be a cause for concern
Although Neymar’s recent ACL injury is one that could happen to any player, the former PSG’s superstar’s record is more than worrying reading for Inter Miami.
Neymar’s injury record | Games missed |
2024/25 – Al-Hilal and Brazil | 16 |
2023/24 – Al-Hilal and Brazil | 44 |
2022/23 – PSG and Brazil | 17 |
As per the table above, Neymar has missed almost 80 games for club and country over the last three seasons, with the winger this week already picking up a new problem after returning to action with Al-Hilal.
With MLS as intense a league as it is due to the speed of the league and all the travel, Inter Miami will need to be aware that they could be making a mistake in signing Neymar if the winger’s injury record doesn’t improve between now and 2025.
