Tata Martino has provided clarification regarding the possibility of Inter Miami signing Angel Di Maria this summer. This comes after there has been persistent talk around the Benfica forward.
Due to the fact that he won seven league titles with both Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, Di Maria, who is 36 years old, is considered to be one of the most accomplished players of the past 15 years. He won the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina alongside Lionel Messi.
Di Maria, who is also a winner of the UEFA Champions League, is scheduled to leave Benfica at the end of this season after having a strong year back in Portugal. Inter Miami is one of the clubs that has been speculated to be interested in acquiring the Argentine international player.
However, Martino has now had his say on if the Herons will sign Di Maria.
Marino has completely dispelled Inter Miami’s desire to acquire Di Maria’s services.
In an interview with Marca, the manager of Inter Miami flatly dismissed any possibility of the Herons acquiring Di Maria. Martino stated that the Florida club does not possess the resources necessary to acquire the offensive midfielder.
It would be difficult to convince a player of Di Maria’s caliber to join Messi and company, especially considering the fact that other teams are interested in the 36-year-old. Inter Miami has all three Designated Players filled, so it would be difficult to convince Di Maria to join the squad.
“I echo everything that is said and commented on,” Maritno said in response to a question about whether or not Inter Miami will make a play for Di Maria. Once more, I want to emphasize that there is no requirement for me to discuss the characteristics that Angel possesses.
“But, to tell you the truth, and in addition to the fact that there are over two months left until the transfer window reopens, I am having a hard time finding a means for Inter Miami to sign him. As a result of my inability to come up with any, I do not have much more to say.
Inter Miami need to be sensible with transfers this summer
The fact that Inter Miami has recently gained a name means that transfer rumors involving superstar attackers such as Di Maria are not surprising. However, the Herons need to make sure that they are cautious about the players they bring in during the summer transfer window.
Sergio Ramos is still said to be interested in moving to Major League Soccer (MLS) and Florida, and it is apparent that defense is an area of the pitch where Inter Miami could truly profit from the addition of another major name who would join the club.
Indeed, as great as Di Maira is, Inter Miami need to be wise with who they sign this summer, and the 36-year-old attacker is simply not what the Herons are looking for in this moment in time.
