LOVELY THINGS: BUKAYO SAKA appeared to laugh at West Ham fans after netting in Arsenal’s 5-2 rout at the London Stadium

Arsenal's Bukayo Saka Reflects on 'Fun' West Ham demolition

Footage from Arsenal’s trip to West Ham shows Bukayo Saka laughing at the home fans after converting a penalty.

Saka made it 5-2 heading into the break for Arsenal, which is how the game finished, with the England international assisting twice in addition to his penalty goal.

After scoring his penalty, Saka was seen running past the West Ham fans, seemingly laughing at them after his shushing celebration.

Arsenal quickly took the lead in just 10 minutes, with defender Gabriel scoring a powerful header from Saka’s corner.

Soon after, Leandro Trossard increased the lead, followed by a penalty from Martin Odegaard, making it three goals in a little over half an hour.

Kai Havertz scored a fourth for the home fans’ dismay after Max Kilman misplayed a long ball, allowing the German to seize the opportunity and get past Lukasz Fabianski.

However, it was Saka’s penalty that excited the home supporters the most, with the London Stadium starting to empty before halftime.

After allowing captain Martin Odegaard to take the first penalty for his season’s opening goal post-injury, Saka stepped up for the second in stoppage time before the break.

Fabianski unintentionally punched Gabriel while clearing a corner, giving the visitors their second penalty in the first half.

Saka shot into the bottom left corner, beating Fabianski and scoring a fifth for the visiting team.

It made it just the fourth time in Premier League history in which there has been seven goals in the first half of a game.

The win moved Mikel Arteta’s side second in the league table, behind leaders Liverpool who bid to widen the gap when they host Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

West Ham’s performance, despite pulling two goals back to half the deficit in the first half, leaves them six points above the relegation zone.

Pressure mounts on boss Julen Lopetegui after signs of promise were short lived following the Hammers’ 2-0 victory at St James Park on Monday evening.

Speaking after the match, Saka said: “It was a lot of fun, a lot of goals and, we enjoyed it.

“We’ve been playing like that the last few games, scoring a lot of goals. We’re in good form, good confidence and we’re enjoying our football.

“We’ve built a lot of momentum now, we’ve played really well the last three games, not just the results were good but also the way we played so we’re happy.

Speaking on their next match – hosting Ruben Amorim’s Man United at the Emirates – Saka said: “We’re confident and we’re going to take it into the next game which, we know is a big one.

“We’re feeling good, we’re feeling ready for it, confident, so, let’s go!” Saka added.

Arsenal host Manchester United on Wednesday in the top-flight before a trip across London to Fulham at Craven Cottage.

West Ham will look to pick up valuable points with an away trip to Leicester City on Tuesday before hosting Wolves at the weekend.
