The incident happened just before Marcus Rashford replaced Mason Mount in the 59th minute of United’s 3-2 win over BodoGlimt. While making final preparations on the touchline in front of new United manager Ruben Amorim, Rashford decided to take off his gloves before entering the pitch.
However, instead of handing them to the United staff member standing behind him, Rashford chose to throw them on the floor. After witnessing Rashford throw the first glove, a member of the United backroom team stood up and reached out to pick up the second glove, but it was also thrown to the floor by the 27-year-old.
The clip was widely shared on social media, leaving many United fans angry at Rashford’s actions. One United fan on X wrote: “Normally I don’t comment on Rashford, but throwing gloves on the floor when there are staff waiting to pick them up is unacceptable. It’s hard to defend him.”
Another United fan wrote: “Shameful. Who does he think he is. I know this is probably normal for footballers, not just Rashford. But he’s clearly disrespecting the club’s staff.”
Another United fan added: “That’s disrespectful, I like Rashford but that’s not good.”
Meanwhile, a Liverpool fan wrote: “Why not give the gloves to the staff waiting for you. Can’t stand this guy.”
An Everton fan who also watched the clip wrote: “That’s so arrogant and rude, the guy was standing right next to him, no need to drop them on the floor like that. Hate stuff like that.”
