Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs squeaked out another one-possession win on Black Friday as they defeated their AFC West rival, the Las Vegas Raiders, 19-17, at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
After a two-game road trip, the Chiefs finally went back home for a game, and Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, returned as well. The award-winning musician had previously been in Toronto for her “Eras Tour” from Nov. 14-23 but has made her way back to the United States before heading back to Vancouver on Dec. 6.
Even with Swift in attendance, Kelce, the former Cincinnati Bearcats star, wasn’t the best tight end on the field. That honor went to rookie Brock Bowers, the Raiders’ No. 13 pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
Bowers, the former Georgia Bulldog, recorded game highs of 10 catches for 140 yards while adding a touchdown on a 33-yard pass from quarterback Aidan O’Connell. Meanwhile, Kelce only tallied seven catches for 68 yards, being outplayed by Bowers in every statistical receiving category.
Bowers is becoming an elite player in front of our very eyes. Through 12 games, the rookie has tallied 84 catches for 884 yards and four touchdowns. In fact, following the loss to Kansas City, Bowers leads the NFL in receptions and is third in receiving yards, just behind Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals and Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings. That will likely change following Sunday’s slate of games.
