Rodri is happy to be contacted by Real Madrid, and also speaks out about coach Pep Guardiola’s new contract with Man City.
Rodri has spoken out about his future at Manchester City, claiming Pep Guardiola’s decision to sign a new contract was a “major motivation” for him despite interest from Real Madrid being an “honour”. Manchester City star Rodri has left the door open for a move to Real Madrid, despite manager Pep Guardiola signing a new contract with Manchester City.
(PLO)- MU’s starting lineup against Ipswich in round 12 of the Premier League in the first match of new coach Ruben Amorim has been revealed.
Rodri has been a key part of City’s success since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2019, with the midfielder winning the Ballon d’Or later this year. The 28-year-old Spaniard has two years remaining on his current City contract and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, coach Pep Guardiola has signed a two-year contract extension with Man City, allowing him to continue leading the team until the summer of 2027. When asked about coach Pep Guardiola’s new contract, Rodri shared with Spanish radio station Cadena Ser: “It’s great that Pep Guardiola decided to continue.
“It’s clear that Pep Guardiola has been the most influential coach in my career. It’s a great pleasure for the club and for Citizens that he’s staying for at least two more years. When I signed for them, they told me that Pep Guardiola would only stay for one or two years…”
Asked about his future, Rodri insisted he was happy at the Etihad but admitted that being linked with Real Madrid was an “honour”. Spaniard Rodri was delighted to be linked with Real Madrid: “I am focused on my recovery.
I have two years left on my contract with Man City, it’s time to sit down and talk . Obviously Pep Guardiola’s contract extension is a big motivation. I feel very valued at the club.

I am very happy at the moment. Obviously when Real Madrid, the most successful and best club in history, calls you, it is an honour. You always have to be on your toes. But obviously not, I am not looking too far ahead but there is a possibility that I could end my career perfectly in England. This is the country that gave me everything, I fell in love with football there.
Man City are fantastic, not only on a sporting level but also in the way they are organised. I feel comfortable and loved there. But Spain is my country. I am always aware of the League, the level of the teams is getting higher and higher. I am lucky to have played in both leagues, coached by the best coaches in the world and I feel very satisfied.”
