Jude Bellingham, the standout Real Madrid midfielder, has added another prestigious award to his collection this week.
The 21-year-old has been named the Spanish Footballers’ Association Player of the Year for the 2023/24 season, further cementing his reputation as one of the top talents in European football.
Bellingham’s first season in La Liga was nothing short of remarkable. In his debut campaign, he played a crucial role in Real Madrid’s midfield under the management of Carlo Ancelotti.
A look at the numbers
Over the course of 28 appearances, Bellingham made an impressive contribution to the team, scoring 19 goals and providing six assists. His 25 direct goal contributions were pivotal, and his performances earned him the La Liga Player of the Year award.
Now, following his extraordinary achievements, Bellingham has been honoured with the AFE Player of the Year award, voted for by the members of the Spanish Footballers’ Association.
This recognition, which was handed to Vinicius Jr. in 2023, is a testament to his impact on the league and his exceptional form during the past season.
Bellingham will receive the award at the AFE’s annual ceremony next Monday, where he will join the ranks of some of Spain’s best footballing talents.
Unable to replicate the form
Despite his success in the previous season, Bellingham’s current campaign has not been as prolific. In the 2024/25 La Liga season, he has made eight appearances but has only managed to score one goal and provide two assists.
While his form this season has dipped compared to last, there is no doubt that he remains a key player for Real Madrid, with many expecting him to return to his best as the season progresses.
In the meantime, Bellingham’s individual achievements, including his recent award, highlight the immense potential he has to become one of the world’s best footballers in the years to come.
