Barcelona forward Ferran Torres is still in the process of recovering from a hamstring tear he sustained five weeks ago during the match against Alaves and despite the progress he has made, Torres will need a few more days to fully recover.
In that regard, a report from Javier Miguel in AS confirms that his return to the pitch is expected to come against either Brest or Las Palmas, marking the completion of a month and a half of absence, which was the initial timeline for his recovery.
Torres, who started the game against Alaves, had to be substituted just six minutes into the match due to the injury. Barcelona quickly confirmed that it was a hamstring tear, and the club announced that Torres would be sidelined for approximately 7-8 weeks.
The injury has caused him to miss several crucial fixtures, including home matches against Sevilla, Bayern Munich, and Espanyol, as well as away games against Real Sociedad, Real Madrid, and Crvena Zvezda.
Recovery in final stretch
Recent updates suggest that Torres is nearing full fitness and is entering the final stages of his recovery. It is possible that he could make use of the upcoming international break to accelerate his progress, potentially allowing him to return to action sooner.
However, it is now clear that he is unlikely to feature in Barcelona’s next match against Celta Vigo. If all goes as planned, Torres could be available for selection when Barcelona face Brest or Las Palmas.
This injury has kept Torres out for a considerable amount of time, but his return will provide Barcelona with a valuable attacking option as they look to continue their campaign.
With his recovery on track, Flick will be hoping to see him back on the pitch in the coming weeks, contributing to the team’s efforts once again considering the fixture pileup.
