Thiago Silva has sent a message to his compatriot Neymar on Instagram as the Al-Hilal star continues to battle injuries amid speculation over his future in Saudi Arabia.
Thiago Silva has sent a four-word message to Neymar on Instagram following his struggle with injuries at Al-Hilal.
The pair have been close pals for several years playing together for both the Brazilian national team and Paris Saint-Germain. Silva, a former Chelsea player, is widely regarded as one of the best in a generation and has been a rock at the back for his country for over a decade.
The 40-year-old is still playing professionally and now captains Brazilian club Fluminense. He recently reached out to his old friend Neymar on Instagram offering love to the 32-year-old who is battling a series of long-term injuries.
Silva posted a picture of the pair hugging adding the caption, “I love you brother” to support Neymar who is currently sidelined with an injury he sustained just weeks after returning.
The winger played his first match for Al-Hilal in 369 days back in October but suffered an unfortunate moment during an AFC Champions League match on November 4. He came off the bench in the 58th minute before being forced off with just three minutes to go.
He is set to be out for six weeks and released a statement after the game, saying: “It felt like a cramp, only very strong! I am going to have some tests and I hope it is nothing too serious.
“It is normal for this to happen after a year, the doctors had already warned me, so I have to be careful and play more minutes.”
Recent reports have suggested Al-Hilal could look to offload the Brazilian amid his latest setback, with other outlets claiming that Neymar could be considering a return to his boyhood club Santos when his contract expires next year.
Long-term injuries often signal the end of a player’s career so it’s likely he will never be the same again. Since joining Al-Hilal for €90 million last season he has only played seven matches scoring one goal and making three assists.
