After failing to make the postseason in six years with the Los Angeles Angels, MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani has helped the Los Angeles Dodgers reach the World Series in his first season with the team.
The Dodgers got there after beating the New York Mets 10-5 in Sunday’s Game 6 of the NLCS, clinching a 4-2 series win. Ohtani finished Game 6 batting .500 (two hits in four at-bats), including two runs scored and an RBI.
Ohtani has proved to be worth every penny of the 10-year, $700M contract he signed back in Dec. 2023 as he became the first player in MLB history to record 50 or more home runs and 50 or more steals in a single season.
After the win, a fan captured Ohtani’s wife, Mamiko Tanaka, holding his dog, Decoy, as they celebrated the win with some friends and a drink. MLB supporters loved the appearance of Tanaka, especially given how she usually keeps a low profile. They took to social media to leave their thoughts.
“Nez Balelo, Mamiko, Decoy and others toasting to winning the pennant!” one fan said.
“Mamiko continuing to hold the dog while cheering is the kind of multi-tasking I admire”
“Mamiko Decoy”
“the wife I wanna be I swear”
“she’s so real”
Back in Feb. 2024, Ohtani revealed that he had gotten married but wouldn’t disclose much more information about it.
“She is Japanese,” Ohtani said earlier this year. “I don’t think I need to announce the date we got married. She is a typical, ordinary person.”
However, just one month later, “Shotime” took to Instagram to share the first photo of himself with Tanaka.
Ohtani and the Dodgers will get to battle Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees in the World Series. Game 1 will begin on Friday, Oct. 25, at 8:08 p.m. ET at Dodger Stadium.
