Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers are headed to the 2024 World Series to face off with Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees.
The meeting will mark Ohtani’s first-ever World Series appearance, now in his seventh MLB season and first with the Dodgers.
After Los Angeles’ 10-5 NLCS-clinching win in Game 6 over the New York Mets, Ohtani and company shared in a spirited celebration. The MVP frontrunner told Fox’s Ken Rosenthal on the field that the Dodgers are “the place that I’ve dreamt of playing all my life.”
Shortly after, the festivities took to the Dodgers’ locker room where hundreds of bottles of champagne and alcohol awaited. Ohtani, the usually reserved superstar, stole the show with his jubilation.
Multiple videos online have gone viral, including one from Bleacher Report that has been viewed over one million times since Sunday night.
“Hey, you’re sober!” a beer-soaked Ohtani can be heard saying to someone in another video from JCON-Taiwan, which has been watched over 500,000 times as of writing.
Another photo showed Dodgers pitcher Jack Flaherty hugging Ohtani while dousing the 30-year-old MVP in a bottle of champagne.
“Shohei Ohtani and Dave Roberts pouring beer on each other is quality content 🍺😂” the Fox Sports MLB account posted.
“Shohei Ohtani caught Miggy Ro & Kirsten lacking 😭” wrote the Dodgers Nation media account.
In 11 games and 53 plate appearances this postseason, Ohtani is batting .286 with three home runs, 10 RBI, 11 walks and 12 runs scored. He also tied teammate Max Muncy for a single-series franchise record by reaching base 17 times in the NLCS.
First pitch of Game 1 of the World Series is set for Friday at 8:08 p.m. ET at Dodger Stadium.
