Novak Djokovic played only 13 tournaments during the 2024 tennis season and that number is expected to decrease in 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The tennis great has skipped several high-profile events in 2024 and that is likely to continue next year as he has made no secret of the fact that he plans to play a reduced schedule during the final few years of his career as he wants to spend more time with his family.<\/p>\n

\u201cFamily life is very important to me. I want to be with my wife and children, to be part of their daily lives, which I haven\u2019t been able to do for many years,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Djokovic has admitted that he is \u201cdone\u201d with several tournaments, with the ATP Finals appearing to be one of them after he withdrew from the season-ending event at the backend of 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs far as I am concerned, I am done with those tournaments for my career,\u201d the 24-time Grand Slam winner stated.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cFor the first time in my career, I don\u2019t have any long-term plans. I live in the moment and I\u2019ll see what happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

But those who think he is close to retiring are wide off the mark as the 37-year-old is intent on playing on the biggest events \u2013 including the four Grand Slams \u2013 from here on in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what next year will bring in terms of schedule and everything. I know I still want to keep playing,\u201d the Serbian added.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have to see where I am in my life with my body and everything, but I still have plans to keep going, like these years, prioritising the big events.\u201d<\/p>\n

So which tournaments are likely to feature on his 2025 tennis calendar?<\/p>\n

Djokovic competed at the United Cup, Australian Open, Indian Wells Open, Monte Carlo Masters, Italian Open, Geneva Open, French Open, Wimbledon, Paris Olympics, US Open, Davis Cup World Group and the Shanghai Masters in 2024, but several of those events are unlikely to feature in 2025.<\/p>\n

He won only one title in 2024, gold at the Paris Olympics, and finished with a 37-9 win-loss record.<\/p>\n

Novak Djokovic\u2019s possible calendar for 2025<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Brisbane International \u2013 December 30-January 5<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Djokovic traditionally plays a tournament before the season-opening Grand Slam and the fact that he hasn\u2019t played any competitive tennis since the final of the Shanghai Masters in October, he could be keen to get some minutes under his belt before the Australian Open.<\/p>\n

Last year he played in the United Cup, but Serbia won\u2019t feature in 2025 while in previous years he played at the Adelaide International, now defunct ATP Cup as well as the Qatar Open.<\/p>\n

Australian Open \u2013 January 13-27<\/strong><\/h4>\n

If fit, the 10-time Australian Open champion will be in the main draw of the 2025 season-opening major at Melbourne Park.<\/p>\n

After winning four titles in a row (he missed the 2022 edition), Djokovic was beaten in the 2024 semi-finals by eventual champion Jannik Sinner.<\/p>\n

Indian Wells Open \u2013 March 3-16<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Indian Wells Open is one of Djokovic\u2019s favourite events as he has won the title five times, although we shouldn\u2019t be too surprised if this is one of the events that he drops from his calendar as he has featured at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament only once in the last four years.<\/p>\n

That once was in 2024 when he lost in the third round against Luca Nardi.<\/p>\n

Monte Carlo Masters \u2013 April 7-13<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Miami Open follows the Indian Wells Open, but Djokovic hasn\u2019t played in the second leg of the Sunshine Double since before Covid-19 so he is likely to skip it again and spend more time with his family.<\/p>\n

He is likely to play in his first Masters 1000 event at the Monte Carlo Masters to kick-start his clay-court season.<\/p>\n

The Serbian is a two-time champion at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, but his last title was in 2015. Last year he lost in the semi-final against Casper Ruud.<\/p>\n

Italian Open \u2013 May 5-18<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Madrid Open \u2013 which takes place after the Monte Carlo Masters \u2013 is another high-profile tournament that Djokovic has missed in the last four years so he is likely to head straight to Rome.<\/p>\n

The Italian Open has been an ever-present tournament on the Djokovic calendar since he made his main draw debut in 2007 as he has featured at Foro Italico for 18 consecutive years, winning six titles with the last coming in 2022.<\/p>\n

Expect him to feature in 2025 for the 19th year in a row.<\/p>\n

French Open \u2013 May 26-June 8<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Djokovic added the Geneva Open to his 2024 calendar as he felt he was undercooked ahead of Roland Garros, but he is likely to head straight to Paris this time around.<\/p>\n

The three-time French Open champion exited the tournament after the fourth round in 2024 as he withdrew from his quarter-final match due to a knee injury.<\/p>\n

Wimbledon \u2013 June 30-July 13<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Djokovic prefers not to play any grass-court warm-up events before Wimbledon so expect him to stick to that tried and trusted recipe.<\/p>\n

The seven-time Wimbledon winner has lost in the final against Carlos Alcaraz the past two years with his last title coming in 2022.<\/p>\n

Cincinnati Open \u2013 August 3-17<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The 2024 post-Wimbledon calendar was dominated by the Paris Olympics, but there will be no distractions in 2025.<\/p>\n

The Cincinnati Open was one of the tournaments Djokovic missed after winning gold in Paris, but he is likely to return in 2025 with the event expected to be his only tournament before the US Open.<\/p>\n

He is a three-time Cincy champion with his last appearance coming in 2023 when he beat Alcaraz in the final.<\/p>\n

US Open \u2013 August 25-September 7<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Novak Djokovic will no doubt return to Flushing Meadows in 2025 where he will look to win a fifth title.<\/p>\n

After beating Daniil Medvedev in the 2023 final to lift his 24th Grand Slam, Djokovic\u2019s title defence came to an end in the third round in 2024.<\/p>\n

Davis Cup Qualifiers \u2013 September 8-14<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Novak Djokovic is a team player as he has made it clear that he wants to win more titles with Serbia, but his participation in the second-round qualifiers depends on Serbia reaching this stage.<\/p>\n

The first round of qualifiers take place after the Australian Open and the tennis great is unlikely to feature in those.<\/p>\n

Shanghai Masters \u2013 September 29-October 12<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Shanghai Masters was the only ATP event to feature on Djokovic\u2019s calendar after the 2024 US Open and he reached the final, losing in straight sets against Jannik Sinner.<\/p>\n

It was his first appearance at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament since 2019 and given all his positive feedback after the tournament, he could well return.<\/p>\n

Paris Masters \u2013 October 27-November 2<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Djokovic opted not to defend his Paris Masters title in 2024 and this could be one of the tournaments that he opts not to play, given his comments about playing on the whim.<\/p>\n

ATP Finals \u2013 November 10-16<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Djokovic officially skipped the 2024 ATP Finals due to injury, but he may well have decided he is \u201cdone\u201d with the season-ending event. Of course, his participation also depends on whether or not he qualifies.<\/p>\n

Davis Cup Finals \u2013 TBC<\/strong><\/h4>\n
