The\u00a0Dallas Cowboys<\/a>\u00a0have named their starting quarterback after\u00a0Dak Prescott\u2019s injury<\/a>. The Cowboys season is basically over at this point as they have a very tough schedule to go, and do not<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Dallas dropped to 3-5 this season after a tough 27-21 loss to the\u00a0Atlanta Falcons\u00a0at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Prescott, 31, exited the game in the second half with a hamstring injury, sidelining him for several upcoming weeks. With this setback, the Cowboys will face the\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles\u00a0on Sunday and likely the Houston Texans the following week without Prescott.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cooper Rush Will Be The Starter Moving Forward<\/h2>\n

On Monday, head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed that Cooper Rush will take over as the starting quarterback in Prescott\u2019s absence. Rush, 30, stepped in for Prescott against the Falcons and has been with the Cowboys since 2017. Last season, he made five starts while Prescott was injured, achieving a 4-1 record. During that time, Rush threw for 1,051 yards and five touchdowns, helping the Cowboys secure crucial wins, including an away victory against the Vikings and a home triumph over the Eagles.<\/p>\n

<\/span>It\u2019s unclear how long Prescott will be out. Prescott is being sent to the IR so he will be missing some considerable time, and by the time he gets back Dallas may be 4-8 and already be out of the running for the playoffs:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re obviously still evaluating,\u201d McCarthy said. \u201cWe have some information.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Rush is probably the better decision for the team and to win games, most fans want some more excitement with the team already in shambles.<\/p>\n

NFL and Cowboys fans all want Trey to start though, as they feel he has more to give than Cooper. While the Cowboys season is effectively over, fans wish for some excitement and to put Lance in instead:<\/p>\n

It has really been a season to forget for this team and they will probably be looking at some major changes at the end of the year. They will almost certainly be changing the guard at coach and they will need to make much more changes than that if they want to compete in the future.<\/p>\n
