Several NFL fans on social media have blasted the\u00a0Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/span>\u00a0for their decision to not go for a two-point conversion with under 30 seconds to go against the\u00a0Kansas<\/span>\u00a0City Chiefs.<\/p>\n

Hindsight is always valuable, as the near-game-tying touchdown pass was the Tampa Bay offense’s last time on the field on the day in Kansas City’s 30-24 overtime win.<\/p>\n

Buccaneers head coach Tod Bowles opted to go for a game-tying extra point instead of a possible game-winning two-point conversion, where he explained he only had ‘very minor’ thoughts about the riskier conversion.<\/p>\n

‘We wanted to get it to overtime with the wet conditions on the field,’ Bowles said after the game. ‘We had our shots and we lost the game. Todd Bowles.<\/p>\n

Some fans thought the move was asking to lose and only could be seen as a blunder.<\/p>\n

Tampa Bay coach Todd Bowles opted not to take that chance and settled for the extra point<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

‘”We want to play more football against Patrick Mahomes” do you know how stupid that sounds,’ one NFL fan said.<\/p>\n

‘Not going for 2 here is certifiably insane.’<\/p>\n

‘Very surprised Tampa took the XP.’<\/p>\n

‘Go for 2!!!!! Don\u2019t give Mahomes a chance,’ former NFL quarterback and ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III said after Mayfield’s touchdown.<\/p>\n

‘I TOLD YOU. Never play for overtime against Patrick Mahomes. THEY NEVER LEARN,’ Griffin said after the game.<\/p>\n

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was asked the same question as Bowles about not going for for the two-point conversion, where he said he was not surprised by Bowles’ call to go for the extra point.<\/p>\n

‘No\u2026 but I\u2019m glad he didn\u2019t,’ Reid said of the extra point, which sent the game to overtime.<\/p>\n
