Casemiro and Andre Onana shared a hug after\u00a0Bruno Fernandes\u00a0scored for\u00a0Manchester United\u00a0– with the Brazilian unable to watch the penalty.<\/p>\n
Scoring goals has been a huge problem for the Red Devils this term and they needed a spot kick to get on the scoresheet against\u00a0Chelsea\u00a0on Sunday. Fernandes, for so long the team’s penalty taker, sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to open the scoring.<\/p>\n
His effort was only United’s ninth goal in 10 games this season. Three of those came in one game with the team firing blanks in four of their\u00a0Premier League\u00a0games.<\/p>\n
Their struggles in the final third contributed to\u00a0Erik ten Hag’s dismissal\u00a0with the club lacking the necessary firepower. Their strikers, the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, have either been struggling with injury or unable to produce the quality needed.<\/p>\n
Onana and Casemiro have hardly been celebrating regularly this season and whilst their team-mates were crowded around the box they were both stood on the halfway line. They embraced as Old Trafford celebrated Fernandes’ strike.<\/p>\n
Chelsea were able to equalise shortly after via Moises Caicedo’s well-taken volley, which means the points were shared in Manchester. The result leaves the Red Devils in the bottom half as Ruud van Nistelrooy remains in charge until Ruben Amorim’s arrival.<\/p>\n
Roy Keane\u00a0has been among those to call out United’s poor form in the final third. He said: “The lack of goals is a huge problem for Man United. Every time I read the league table, after nine or 10 games, minus three goals for Man United, it\u2019s hard to read.”<\/p>\n\n

Ten Hag cited it as a major issue prior to his sacking, bemoaning the fact his players couldn’t take advantage of the opportunities they had been creating.<\/p>\n
