Rafael Nadal is gearing up to retire at the Davis Cup Finals, where he will represent Spain one final time in front of a home crowd.<\/p>\n

But the details of his farewell have been uncertain, as Nadal previously admitted he wouldn\u2019t play if he didn\u2019t feel ready.<\/p>\n

Spain\u2019s captain David Ferrer has now had his say on the match line-up after speaking with the 22-time Major champion and his team. And he stated he would make the final decision.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nadal\u2019s final match could be decided at the \u201clast minute\u201d as Ferrer confessed everything was still up in the air. The team leader still doesn\u2019t know who will be in his final squad, let alone whether the retiring star will play singles or doubles.<\/p>\n

There have been concerns over another player as Pablo Carreno Busta pulled out of the Paris Masters. \u201cI think the final team will be known next week,\u201d Ferrer told AS.<\/p>\n

\u201cA few more days and we will announce the team. I have already told all the players that we will see after Paris. I think we will know on Monday or Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferrer has also had several talks with Nadal and his team but the retired former No. 3 won\u2019t make his final choice for the match line-ups until he sees everyone in Malaga. He continued: \u201cI don\u2019t know, I\u2019ll have to see them train.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve spoken to Rafa this week, I\u2019ve spoken several times. Well, let\u2019s see how the training is going; I\u2019ve also spoken to his coach Carlos Moya and Carlos Costa, his agent.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the truth is that Rafa is training well; and once I\u2019ve seen the players and depending on how they are, I\u2019ll decide how the singles and doubles will be. But until we\u2019re all there and training, I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously I have an idea of what the team will be like, I can visualise it a little, but well, I can tell you that I won’t decide until the last minute, until we are there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nadal has already admitted he won\u2019t put himself forward for the singles if he doesn\u2019t believe he can help his team win. But the final decision will be made by Ferrer, who has \u201ca lot of faith\u201d in his man.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI have a lot of confidence in Rafa and all the players, but well, especially with Rafa, so we can talk and see his feelings a bit; how he feels or how I see him,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn that aspect, I have no problem. But in the end, the captain is the one who has to decide and well, that\u2019s a good problem; having so many options and above all having Rafa, who you know that at any moment, well, he\u2019s a great competitor, he\u2019s the best player in history that we\u2019ve had; I\u2019m very excited and I have a lot of faith that he can help us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spain will face the Netherlands in their quarter-final tie on November 19. If they reach the semi-final, they will play again on the 22nd with the final held on the 24th.<\/p>\n
